Description: The film opens with a view of Hayes & Harlington Urban District Council's Town Hall, including a close shot of the district's shield and motto 'Forward' above the front door. The district's charter is displayed bulldog clipped to a board outside the town hall, with its seals hanging below. The boundary areas of the district are indicated with a thick blue border marked on a map. The film then travels to the district's northeast corner and the Willow Tree Lane Area revealing its rural character with shots of bots riding ponies down a lane. Travelling south to the eastern border with Southall at Hayes Bridge the film compares Yeading Brook with the busy Uxbridge Road. Further south again, at Cranford Park, the film visits St Dunstan's Church and the woods of the old estate. In the centre of the district about the village Sipson and Cherry Lane, public buses are filmed rushing along the street. Along the western border at Hayes End church and Hayes End Recreation Ground where children enjoy the many rides in the playground. The suburban houses of Hewens Road are contrasted with the fields along Mellow Lane East. In the northwest corner at Charville Lane, pasture fields abut suburban housing and new bungalows supply housing for the elderly. At Yeading to the north of the district an estate of semi-detached houses and flats shows some more of the housing provided by the local authority. The main traffic routes through the district are displayed with views of the railway line heading west out of London carrying freight and passengers past EMI's factory, the Grand Union canal and the major trunk roads. A travelling shot from the front of a car films going down Station Road through Hayes. The busy Bath Road is filmed carrying cars and trucks. The film ends with a comparison between some of the old terraces and cottages of the area with new flats and parade of shops being built.
