Description: The gala night for a new Odeon chain cinema in Uxbridge featuring a range of celebrity luminaries. The famous guests arrive by car and walk a red carpet into the building. Amongst those present at the grand opening, and filmed in the foyer, are the Odeon impresario Oscar Deutsch, his wife Mrs Deutsch, the film director Herbert Wilcox and the actors Valerie Hobson, Anna Neagle and Sabu (dressed in an Arabian Nights style costume from his film "The Drum"). The opening ceremony is performed by H.A. Lelow, Chairman of the Uxbridge Urban District Council. Outside the cinema a large crowd of onlookers strain to catch a glimpse of the stars while a group of Highland pipers and a uniformed brass band plays on the buildings steps.
