Summary: A documentary about one room and it uses as a social centre for the elderly; known as the Ave's Room it is in a building run by the Toynbee Trust. Singing, dancing, tea parties, anti-arthritis exercises are amongst the activities which take place there.

01:16 – 03:23 Close up on hands opening and closing, then touching each finger to the thumb. A group of elderly women move their arms around, then close up on their faces as they move their tongues. They practice vocal exercises, then close up on their faces as they repeat “particularly”.
03:23 – 05:41 Various shots of the women sat down singing and dancing to ‘Hokey Cokey. A woman sits down at a piano. The women sings along as she starts to play, with close ups on various women.
05:41 – 06:53 A woman walks down the road by a market with a walking stick and a handbag. The woman walks into a room with the rest of the women sat around the outside. She produces a cucumber from her bag and holds it up to show them. She gives it to a woman sat in an armchair, then swaps the cucumber with another one from her bag. She walks over to another woman and gives her a cucumber.
06:53 – 07:37 The lady spins in a circle holding her walking stick and bag. The films cuts between shots of her with the cucumber and the other women present.
07:37 – 08:55 A lady dances the can-can as other elderly women and a man sit at tables around the outside of the room. Another lady joins in with the dance.
08:55 – 09:43 A man shakes a tin with folded up pieces of paper. A hand moves three raffle tickets on a table. A woman picks one of her raffle tickets up from the table. A woman wins a cake in the raffle. Film cuts between her, the raffle and the cake.
09:43 – 10:32 Two women wheel a trolley covered in tea cups through the room and start pouring tea from a pot. Two women as plates of cake and biscuits and given to the people sat at the tables. Film cuts between people singing and drinking tea as a lady plays the piano.
10:32 – 12:46 A man and a woman dance as people start to leave the room. Pan across the empty room after everyone has left. A woman walks towards a group of four women stood by the end of a pier. Shots of the women on the pier and on the beach and various shots around the pier. Credits and LFS end card.
