Description: This charming wedding video opens in truly traditional fashion: the bridesmaids being chauffeured to the church in a shiny new 1972 Ford Consul, garnished with white ribbon from bonnet to either window frame – a model method of telegraphing the world that a wedding is on the way. A shot of a notice board introduces us to our venue: “The Parish Church Saint Mary’s Hayes” is keyed across it, with any and all other events cleared for the wedding-to-be.
The guests are seen pulling up outside the church, and the bridesmaids pile out of the car, accompanied by a dapperly-dressed woman in a pastel yellow suit: the mother of the bride, appropriately outfitted. The camera turns its attention towards another older man and woman as they approach the church – possibly the proud parents of the groom – dressed in grey and blue respectively. They wave to the camera with a beaming smile on their faces. Then the groom – David McCallum, his anticipation given away by his huge grin.
The church’s bell tower places the wedding at 2:48, and once the guests have piled into the church, the bride finally arrives. Arm-in-arm with her father, she slowly approaches the venue. Endearingly, the father stops to neaten his beloved daughter’s dress before she walks through the doors. The bride’s face says but one thing: sheer joy. The bride and groom stand together, silhouetted by the light shining in from the outer gardens. The archway of the door frames them picturesquely.
Then, everyone shuttles out of the church and onto the garden for their photographs to be taken. The bride and groom go first, of course, the church positioned just behind them. The onlookers and happy guests are seen out of the cameraman’s view, chatting in mirth. David McCallum poses humorously for the camera in jest. Then, a photo of Carole with her bridesmaids, before David and Carole pose with the bridesmaids and the bride’s parents. The final two photographs see all the male guests and all the female guests, respectively.
As the happy newlyweds make their exit from the church grounds, they are playfully pelted with confetti. The camera gives particular attention to one gleeful little girl as she showers David and Carole in shreds of coloured paper. We are given one last look at the couple as they are loaded into a car: they kiss, perched in the passenger seats, and wave, as they move on to their expected honeymoon.
