Description: The film opens with a ‘Harewood Court’ sign and various exterior shots of the 1950s building. Vintage cars arrive and several dignitaries leave the cars and are greeted by members of staff of the home at Hove. The official female visitor, a lady in a blue dress and hat wearing a silver brooch is shown inside and is greeted by a long line of gentlemen in suits. She signs the visitors’ book and is taken to meet residents in a hall. She is handed a bouquet of yellow flowers and is guided round by the matron of the home.
There is hand-shaking and greeting in the hall by residents, and a well decorated dining room table for several guests. The official visitor sits down talking to gentlemen, and a maid offers drinks to the guests. There is much discussion in the room. The Royal visitor poses for photographs with the matron and several gentlemen outside in the sunshine.
The female dignitary is shown the infirmary and introduced to two residents, happily chatting to them. Finally, the official visit is over, the dignitary shakes the hand of staff and leaves in her chauffeur driven car, along with a lady-in-waiting. Police stop traffic so the cars can leave swiftly.
