Further information: The 1968 film 'Hallmarking' was revised in 1979 in response to the 1973 Hallmarking Act, which allowed for the marking of platinum. Director G. Buckland-Smith added several new elements to the earlier film: opening and end titles, commentary, music, and sound effects. He also shot and included footage about platinum. The revised film was then given a different title, 'Hallmarking of Gold, Silver and Platinum'.
