Summary: An Edmonton Film Society film on the Edmonton Horse Show at the Henry Barrass Stadium on Houndsfield Road, within Jubilee Park.

Description: A number of equestrian events are shown including show jumping on set courses and a 'take your own line jumping competition'. The other events featured are displays of horsemanship by the best child riders, carriage riding and the 'trade turnout' a competition for costermongers and street traders, using single harness wagons. One of the contestants in the latter event is a wagon bearing a pearly king and prince pulled by a donkey, the pearly prince's jacket reads 'Pride of Enfield'. Suitably officious looking judges decide the winners of the events, while the rosettes are trophies are presented by the Mayor of Edmonton, Councillor A. Tanner. The film also includes footage of people paying to enter, sitting in the stands and enjoying the beer tent.

This event was a major one for Edmonton with a big attendance , and it attracted some notable riders . One being Alan Oliver riding Red Admiral. I think he won and is being presented with the first prize. I don't recall that it was ever repeated.
Unfortunately the film quality has suffered over the years, but it still makes for interesting viewing.
