Title number: 869

Description: An apparent attempt to capture views of the Edgware Road area before it was changed by redevelopment. The film begins with street scenes along the Edgware Road before the building of the Marylebone Flyover, including exterior views of the soon to be demolished Gaumont Cinema. Other locations viewable along the Road include 'Jolly', 'F.Hinds Ttd.', "Weaver & Weaver' and Edgware Road underground station. In one shot looking along Marylebone Road the Capital House tower block can be seen near completion in the background, with a tall crane above the building. Exterior shots of the tiled front of the Metro Turkish Baths at 16 Harrow Road show the Islamic star and crescent and the Sunday opening hours for 'Ladies'. Some exterior shots of the soon to be demolished Metropolitan Theatre, 267 Edgware Road consist of views of the stone work of its upper facade, and painted signs above the entrance proclaiming "Begorrah! London's Irish Musical Hall" with an accompanying cartoon Irishman and shamrocks . A street scene on the Harrow Road is filmed by the entrance to a subway and the underground public conveniences with 'Henry's Radio & Electronics' shop in the background. The film ends with a group of men surveying the area with an optical theodolite and ranging pole a hint of the changes to come.
