Summary: A Film of the House and Garden at 17 Tudor Close, Cheam
Title number: 717
LSA ID: LSA/940
Description: Obviously the product of keen gardeners, this film compiles material shot throughout the year of the gardens of a suburban house on Tudor Drive in Cheam. It begins with spring and summertime views of the front garden and its plants including a cherry tree in blossom, daffodils, tulips and hyacinths. A woman attends to her potted pelargoniums and rose beds, followed by a man with a watering can. Some wintry scenes are shot from an upstairs window of the house, looking out on leafless trees, bare gardens along Tudor Drive and frost on roofs and in Cheam Park. Some shots looking down on the rear garden show a garden pergola over a patio area (this is followed by views of the same structure in summertime, and deep in snow during winter). A mixture of seasonal shots shows the back garden at different times of year, some with the residents enjoying the space or tending to minor horticultural tasks. A bumper crop of apples is harvested from a tree in autumn, while spring brings bright flowers to the rockery as crocuses break the ground. The final shots are filmed from out the French doors of a ground floor room showing an aspect the residents must have regularly enjoyed.
