Description: The film opens with a shot along Westminster Bridge looking from the south bank of the river across to the Houses of Parliament. Nest the film maker travels to the Victoria Embankment on the north side of the river by Westminster pier with glimpses of Shell-Mex House, the Royal Festival Hall and County Hall in the background. The pleasure vessel 'Tower Belle' is filmed coming into the pier. Then its west to Milbank, the Victoria Tower Gardens and closer shots of Parliament, St Stephen's Tower and round to Parliament Green. Tourists and postcard vendors are filmed by the riverside on the south embankment near to Lambeth Palace, which can be seen in a few shots. The Tower of London is filmed from the south side of Tower Bridge with the camera panning up to take in the bridge's structure. At St Katherine's Dock there is a free exhibition of Sir Francis Chichester's boat Gipsy Moth IV moored in the water, with a large map nearby showing the route of his circumnavigation. At low tide, some mudskippers trawl the river flats. Sunset scenes upriver catch the smoke rising from several power station chimneys. The riverside is filmed again at night, with lights illuminating the embankment and the Shell building.
