Description: This film would appear to be mute rushes as some shots are prefaced by a clapperboard. Opening shot is of a mute clapperboard titled 'Civic Centre' and dated 27/04/1970. A man with a pointer is explaining the floor plans of the building, which are on a wall, to group of people. More shots of the plans along with models of the new building. The architect(?) removes the top of the model to show the lower floors and interiors and then refers to 'artists impressions' on the wall. Shot of two men looking on. We next see a different room with photographers taking photos of the building model and officials. More shots of the architect explaining the design and the sketches of proposed interiors.
External shot of a residential street with passing traffic is followed by shots of the same officials, talking among themselves, at what appears to be a path near a school, with passing school children. We see a panning shot of a large field (the building site?) Next is a shot of a No 37 bus turning a corner. The camera follows the bus and stays on an office block.
A title stating 'in-edited cutting copy only' followed by London Borough of Hounslow- Information Film; The Story of The New Civic Centre. We see a map of the borough.
Next is a meeting of officials with a a slide-show presentation. We see a display with various photos; the description at the top is 'Civic Centre- Office - Landscape Research'. There are various shots of men pouring over plans and discussing various things. We see a man pointing to various wall plans and talking to the rest of the group.
The next shot is of an official explaining various diagrams and plans to a group of women along with a visual display. This is followed by an upright display which is entitled Feasibility.
A shot of an old Victorian office hallway is followed by a women talking to a man through a hatch in a wall. A sign above the hatch says Information Centre. We see a view of another similar cramped Victorian corridor with people walking along it.
We see exterior views of an old office building followed by a modern office block with shops on the ground floor. A bus passes along and enters a bus depot.
We see a planning/architects office with people working at drawing boards. There is a close up of a woman with a protractor and pencil at a drawing board. Next, we see various shots of the architect explaining a model to a group of men; they refer to plans on the wall.
We see various shots taken through a car windscreen, of a residential road; the car pulls into a driveway with parked cars. There is a shot of a Victorian building. We see a shot of an exterior of a building with a wrought-iron fence in front of the Education Office. Two men enter and pass through the door. We then see an exterior of another unidentifiable building and then various street views of another building. This followed by an exterior view of another building with a car (Austin Cambridge?) parked in front of it.
