Description: The film begins on May 31st 1953 with scenes of a parade through Hounslow town centre by members of youth cadet corps, and war veterans of the British Legion. Local councillors led by the macebearer, the Mayor, Alderman D.C.L. Usher, the Mayoress and the Town Clerk, Harold Swan, walk from Heston & Isleworth Council House to attend the civic service at Holy Trinity Church, Hounslow. After the service, the Mayoral party return to the council house. Coronation street decoration is filmed on Chapel Road, Bristow Road, Holloway Street and adorned with flags, pennants, bunting, floral display, ribbons and images of the Queen. The town is also decorated with the Co-op, Murfitt's department store and smaller shops bright with curtained fabric, shields and royal imagery. On Monday 8th June there is entertainment for the Borough's older residents at the Dominion Cinema, which is already showing 'A Queen is Crowned' the documentary film of the coronation, which took place a week earlier. On Wednesday the 10th June, the Brigade of Ghurkhas Massed Pipe Bands 'beat the retreat' at the Cavalry Barracks of HQ Eastern Command. A seated audience of dignitaries including some Chelsea pensioners watch the proceedings from one side of the parade ground, while common folk are relegated to standing on the other. On Sunday 28th June there is a parade through Hounslow by the Hounslow Branch of the Royal Naval Association and a flag dedication at St Stephen's Church. Both events are attended by the Mayor and Vice-Admiral Sir Alexander Taylor. The Chairman of the Coronation Committee was Alderman Harry Edwards.

Further information: Dr Henry Mandiwall (1903-1986) was a Hounslow amateur filmmaker and a dentist. In the late 1940s, he and Stanley Drummond Jackson made a film on venepuncture techniques for general practice that was accepted by the British Medical Association. It became the first of a series of films detailing Jackson's intravenous technique adopted by various teaching bodies (copies are held in the Wellcome Library). Jackson founded the Society for the Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry (SAAD); Mandiwall was the society's president in 1969. He was also a leaing figure in the Boy Scout movement, specialising in promoting scouting to disabled children.
