Description: An amateur video of various London scenes produced and introduced by Sid Hayden, a former local resident of Merton and a library volunteer. The video shows many glass plate images of Merton in the past, most drawn from the collection of postcard photographers Johns and Laycock between 1912 and 1933. The photos show street scenes, including people, trams, shops and buildings. They cover a large geographic area including Sutton, Putney, Mitcham, Kew Bridge, Hammersmith, Chelsea, Forest Hill, Chiswick, Merton, Sydenham, Dulwich, Tooting, Golders Green, Hampton Court, Kingston, Thames Ditton, Teddington, Richmond, Barnes, Mortlake, Wimbledon, Hampstead, Kennington, Battersea, Carshalton, Raynes Park, New Malden, Long Ditton, Banstead, Highgate, Fulham, Kingston-Upon-Thames, Hyde Park, Sheen, and the West End of London.

Further information: This video is quite frustrating, the photographs featured are fascinating, but deserve better treatment than this. Sid Hayden's fingers can be seen from time to time moving the images beneath the camera, as he chooses what we should concentrate on.

Also, lovely pic of Mitcham Cricket Green (2.38) and close up from the same (28.16) showing a boy peeking out form inside a large tree. There is a name on the print, Peter Mayhew, could this be the name of the boy?
