Description: Made as part of the 'Pathways to Access Project' a partnership between the NHS and education and local communities in Tower Hamlets. This video aims to alter preconceptions about employment opportunities in medicine. It features interviews with the nurses Naz Mahmud, Shamim Ghani, Jamil Khair and Bibi Ali, trainee nurse Salma Begun, student midwife Aysma Begum and occupational therapy assistant Rukia Begun. The interviews are shot in hospitals and around Tower Hamlets and are edited into some specific themes: why the individuals entered the health professions; their job satisfaction; why more Bangladeshis are need in healthcare; different training routes and entry requirements; the attitudes of their friends and family; uniform issues; and the career opportunities after qualifying. Their testimony is supported with comment from project staff, staff from the School of Nursing and Midwifery and a midwifery manager. Those featured are Almarah Miah (an outreach worker), Hafsa Yahya (a health visitor), Denise McEneaney (the maternity services manager), Celia Goreham (the Director of Pre-Registration at the City University School of Nursing and Midwifery) and Helen Bishop (a project manager). During the video various locations are seen including the Keen Students Supplementary School, the Royal London Hospital, the City University School of Nursing and Midwifery and Brick Lane.
