Title number: 2992

Description: Potential university students are encouraged to choose Queen Mary & Westfield College (QMW) in this slick piece of marketing. The video stresses QMW's modular 'course unit system' allowing students to study courses across a range of disciplines. The college's seven faculties of Arts, Basic Medical Sciences, Engineering, Informatics and Mathematical Sciences, Laws, Physical and Biological Sciences and Social Studies are introduced with film of students at work in seminar rooms, laboratories, workshops and in the field. There is additional featured comment on courses at QMW from Roger Lee (Senior Lecturer in Geography), Dr Sarah Palmer (Senior Lecturer in History), Dr Martin Rosenberg (Senior Lecturer in Physiology), David Collier (a Wellcome Trust Research Student), Dr Peter Wormleaton (Lecturer in Civil Engineering), Michael Crystal QC, Professor Dickie Clymo (Biology Sciences Department), Ruth Stringer (Greenpeace Associate to the Biology Sciences Department), Professor Michael Green (Physics Department), Professor David Smith (Geography Department) and some of the current intake of young people. The video uses the college's London location as a major selling point. The student accommodation at halls of residence at South Woodford and Mile End is shown and spoken about by current residents. Michael Crystal QC, Dr Paul Johnston (Greenpeace Lecturer in Biological Sciences Department), and Dr Jim White (reader in Civil Engineering) talk about the value of a degree from QMW.
