Description: Aimed specifically at Tower Hamlet's Bangladeshi community, this video seeks to remove the stigma of sight problems and explain how the local council and health services can assist people who are blind or partially sighted to live more independent lives. The video introduced the role of the GP and social services in identifying issues and providing advice, training and equipment. Examples are shown of mobility training, use of the long cane, CCTV for reading purposes and other magnification devices. Several individuals with visual impairments are featured and shown to be unhindered by their condition. The video is filmed in people's homes across Tower Hamlets as well as at a Bengali grocery shop, Tower Hamlets College in Poplar, the Eye Unit of the Royal London Hospital and the East London Mosque.
