Description: This issue of the Video Magazine features a range of items. 'Rat Run' is a film about road safety on the Limehouse Causeway and the dangers of the road for children and families. Commuters avoiding the congested A13 take a short cut along West Ferry Road, Poplar High Street, East India Dock Road, and Cotton Street. The section along Limehouse Causeway cuts through the St Vincent's Estate and goes by a school with no zebra crossing. Many children have been injured in road traffic accidents in the area and school children are interviewed about what should be done about the road. Made by Limehouse Club about transport on the island. 'More Transport News' features a model of the Docklands Light Railway (DLR), film of DLR line construction and a DLR official describing the line, its route, disability access, opening times, and station locations. 'Disabled Sports' features have a go water sports for disabled people in West India docks. 'Mudchute 1985 Agricultural Show' features bands playing, stalls, goat petting, a crowd of adults and children, face painting, the peoples charter for docklands, a potters wheel, horse riding and show jumping, and an inter pub tug of war. 'Picture Loan Scheme' is about the Tower Hamlets picture loan scheme, which allows residents to borrow original works for three months for a small hire fee. The works available are exhibited at Limehouse and Whitechapel libraries. Individual borrower Alison described why she uses the scheme. Borrowers can buy the picture after three months, if they wish to, on a hire purchase scheme. This allows new works to be bought for the scheme. 'Wendy Savage' features a march outside London Hospital on Whitechapel Road. The march is part of a Campaign to reinstate Dr Wendy Savage who was suspended on April 1985 from Mile End Hospital for actions related to her resistance towards privatization. 'Local History' looks across Millwall Dock, to the Demolition of the McDougals Flour Factory. A former worker talks about the factory over images of the ruined building and archival photographs of it in its prime. 'The People's Armada' records the GLC Thamesday on Saturday September 7th 1985. Where an 'Armada' of boats travel to Parliament protesting against the London Docklands Development Corporation land grab in the docklands. They campaign for 'Democracy for Docklands'. 'Local Music' is a pop video for local act Seventh Seance performing their song 'The Anguish of Love' a gothic rock track. The item also features an interview with the band about forming their own label Icon Records in order to maintain their independence and about THUMP, the Tower Hamlets Union of Musicians and Performers. The item concludes with film of a live performance by the group.
