There are then various scenes of holiday makers visiting Southend and scenes filmed in 1937 to be shown in local cinemas of Southend in summertime. A film shot by Southend businessman and amateur cameraman Charles Redfern, showing preparations for war and the visit of the Duchess of Kent to lay the foundation stone of a new wing at Rochford Hospital in 1938. Another film records a Mayoral garden party held in Priory Park, July 1938. Shots of storms and cold winter scenes from 1938 precede 'Alive, Alive, O!' a film made by the Southend Photographic Society showing cockling at Leigh in 1948. Another film shows the Southend carnival of 2nd September 1950. The next item 'Rolling Along' is a film by Frank Pigram showing the transfer from the old to the new railway system on Southend Pier in 1949.
