Description: The newsreel item begins with some exterior shots of Fulham Power station showing its tall chimneys and a view from its roof looking down at the River Thames and the cranes that would have lifted coal from ships. Outside the power station the street is heaving with crowds, including many local children awaiting the arrival of the Mayor. The Mayor's car arrives and the Mayor, Councillor S. Vanderhook, and the Mayoress enter the power station. There follow some shots of the turbine hall and workers before the Mayor delivers a speech officially opening the station. The Mayoral party then tour the turbine hall. Outside the power station there are ground level views of the coal loading area, including cranes and conveyor belt. Inside men survey dials and instrument panels as electricity production begins. The item concludes with views of the power station from across the river.
Further information: An initial title on the film reads Red Hall - Walham Green proudly presents The Red Hall was a Gaumont cinema in Fulham. The item contains sound and silent sequences. The silent sequences would probably have been soundtracked with music for release.
