Description: St Dunstan's Church in Cranford is the location for an illustrated lecture on the local history by Arthur and Connie Sadler. The lecture is filmed from a high position in the church taking in the speaker and the screen on which slides are projected. Another camera captures the audience, a full house sat on the church pews. The local history of Cranford is told through Arthur Sadler's personal recollections and examples from his photograph collection. St Dunstan's Church itself, and the estate of the Berkeley family around Cranford House are the major topics of his presentation. Other subjects discussed are other large houses of the area (including Springhill and The Heartlands), the local scouts, the village shops, pubs and school. The lecture features a lot of interaction from the audience, many of whose family members appear in the photographs that Mr Sadler shows. Following the slide show, some boxes are opened by Lord Berkeley containing photograph albums, scrapbooks, recipe books as well as personal items and documents relating to his family. These items are shown to the audience and described. Mr Sadler then takes questions. Afterwards he and Connie are presented with a bouquet of flowers and the audience stand to sing a hymn accompanied by the church organ. The event is closed with a reading by the rector Nicholas Wheeler and a group recitation of the Lord's Prayer. The video ends with a selection of slide close-ups used during the earlier presentation.
