Description: In 1892 the Metropolitan Railway was extended from Chalfont and Latimer to Aylesbury although today the Metropolitan Line finishes at Amersham. This video celebrates the Metropolitan Railway reaching the Chiltern Hills with a record of the steam special trains run from Harrow to Amersham in May 1992. Starting at Harrow the video journeys along the route and stops to investigate places of interest within reach of the Metropolitan railway. It pauses at the village of Pinner, HMS Warrior, the Royal Navy and NATO Headquarters at Northwood, Merchant Taylors School at Moor Park, The Grand Union Canal, Cedars Estate at Rickmansworth, Chorleywood and its Common, Latimer House and John Milton's Cottage, and historic Amersham's Old Town.
