Summary: A short video capturing the occasion on 5 July 2002 when their Royal Highnesses the Earl and Countess of Wessex unveiled a monument in King Stairs Gardens commemorating 50 years of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, to an audience of local schoolchildren and Southwark Borough dignitaries. The Earl and Countess of Wessex are then seen opening the restored Bandstand in Southwark Park and meeting a large crowd of local school children. The Earl makes a short speech and the royal guests depart to the sound of a steel band performing next to the bandstand. Digitised in 2024 by the Southwark Park Association 1869.
