Sounds of Gambia
digital file Colour Sound 2024 0:48
Summary: A collection of analogue photography, sharing the filmmakers first journey home to Gambia.
Title number: 22455
LSA ID: LSA/29519
Description: Remixing typical audio-visual formats, this is a collection of predominately analogue photography shot on film, brought to life with audio recordings extracted from videos shot on an iPhone. Together these mediums build a scene that recreates the sounds and visions of Gambia through the eyes and ears of Sofia Akel, on her first journey home in November 2023.
The use of photographs layered with audio recordings is purposeful in its invitation to the viewer to imagine the scene using their senses and some audio-visual cues. All photos and audio recordings were shot by Sofia.
Credits: Akel, Sofia (Filmmaker); Ehenulo, Kelechi (Producer)
