Description: Declan Murphy is a teenage tearaway who leads a gang og youths who vandalise and litter their local parks. However, one night when the clock strikes thirteen, Declan is led by a spirit figure into the grim world of his poverty-stricken ancestors in the Whitechapel of the 1880s.
Later he is visited by a second spirit figure who leads him to the Barking of 2056 when all the parks have been replaced by an ever-expanding landfill site. Through these strange experiences, Declan learns to value the environment of the present and to do what he can to preserve it. Declan turns green.
The Day I Turned Green is a drama that encourages us to look after the areas that we live, work and play in, so that they are cleaner, greener and safer. Reducing, re-using and re-cycling are serious issues that affect us all and this play deals with these topics in an engaging and humorous way.
