Further information: This is an extract from the video "Bookfair 89 (Peckham Bookplace Bookfair)" (LSA/28555). The original film is a record of the annual Bookfair organised by The Bookplace and Peckham Publishing Project, based on Peckham High Street. The fair took place at Camden Estate tenants’ hall in Peckham over three days, and featured live performances and entertainment for local residents including lots of families and children. The performances include music from the London All Star Steel Band, poetry readings by Lorraine Simeon, a dance workshop by Carole Pollard, a tap dance workshop by Carl Campbell’s Dance Co 7, theatre performance by Black Mime Theatre, and childrens’ entertainment and storytelling sessions facilitated by Bookplace workers Richard Gray and Judy Leslie.
