Description: Civic function which begins with the greeting of guests by the Mayor, who we believe to be the first Sikh to hold the position in Newham, and his wife. Guests are warmly greeted and appear delighted to be attending the event . The Mayor, his wife and a Granthi are led to the top table by an usher. The Granthi offers a prayer. Guests sit down and the Master of Ceremony offers a warm welcome to guests, announces that three of the oldest serving Mayoresses from Newham and East Ham. The event is a meeting of the new Mayors Association, featuring the Mayor, the Mayoress, Council Officials and other guests. The Master of Ceremony invites a number of guests to make toasts and speeches.
