Description: This record of street life in the east end begins with views of the Britannia Theatre from across Hoxton Street, Shoreditch. A group of small boys wait in line outside while carts pass by (one, a Midland Railway Company delivery cart is seen in front of J.F. Stevens, Tobacconist). There follows scenes in Old Street and Charles Square. A No. 43 tram and a mixture of motor and horse-drawn vehicles pass before the camera. One tram is filmed as it passes 'The London Apprentice' public house on Old Street. The film also includes views of the tower of St Leonards Church in Shoreditch.
Further information: The VHS version in Hackney Archives is dubbed with a soundtrack by Jon Newman with comments from three old Hoxtonians (done in 1984).
