3’39” Look at the first shortlisted building, Canary Wharf underground station, by Foster and Partners. Footage of the Sterling Prize judges in the station with their views. The judges are Amanda Levete, Amanda Baillieu, Tracey Emin, Eric Parry, Michael Manser.
7’28” Januszczak interviews Richard MacCormac, architect of the Welcome Wing of the Science museum where the prize is being held and also Southwark underground station. 8’37” He then interviews Piers Gough about modern architecture.
10’24” Footage of the second shortlisted building, office block 88 Wood Street, by Richard Rodgers Partnership. Judges view and comment on it.
13’30” The Stephen Lawrence Prize for small building is given to SE1-based architects Softroom for the Kielder Belvedere shelter in Northumberland. 13’52” Januszczak talks to Doreen Lawrence about the prize and the fact that Stephen Lawrence wanted to be an architect. He then talks to Softroom architects Christopher Bagot and Oliver Salway.
16’04” Time-lapse, aerial, day and night time views of, and from, The London Eye, the third shortlisted structure by Marks Barfield Architects. The judges ride and comment on it.
18’38” Januszczak talks to Tony Blair about The London Eye and other shortlisted buildings.
22’11” Januszczak talks to Hugh Pearman from the Sunday Times and Rowan Moore from the London Evening Standard about how many of the buildings shortlisted are in London and The London Eye.
24’31” A look at the fourth shortlisted building, GSW building in Berlin, designed by Sauerbruck Hutton. The judges visit and comment. Januszczak talks to Pearman and Moore again about British architects working in Berlin.
29’21” Look at the fifth shortlisted building, Peckham Library, by Alsop and Stormer. Footage of the exterior and interior of the library and the local community using it. The judges view and comment on it. A council member shows the judges round and listens to the judges criticisms. Januszczak talks to the library’s architect Will Alsop about its impact on the community and the building itself.
37’49” Footage of New Art Gallery in Walsall by Caruso St John Architects, the sixth shortlisted building, including talking to the gallery’s director and the judges. Januszczak talks to architect, Jeremy Dixon, and Julia Somerville as patrons of the New Art Gallery.
43’25” Footage of the seventh shortlisted building, the eco-friendly Sainsbury’s in Greenwich, which has the Chanel 4 viewers vote for best building. Judges visit and comment. Designed by Chetwood Associates.
46’17” The judges vote and talk about making the decision. 48’26” The winner is announced as Peckham Library. Will Alsop from the designing architects, makes a speech
and thanks the Borough of Southwark. He says it’s important the building is in Peckham which is seen as deprived.
