Summary: Easter parade in Battersea
Title number: 20229
LSA ID: LSA/26703
Description: Military marching bands, floats and vintage vehicles take part in the annual Easter Parade. Floats included in the procession are the Royal Life Saving Society whose members brave the early spring weather in their swimming costumes and ‘Britvic’ pure fruit juices. Some floats are decorated with colourful floral displays. There is a wonderful model of the Post Office Tower made from flowers. The Easter Princess is also in attendance along with her court as are the Pearly King and Queen.
Further information: Bernard Chaplin bought his first camera with savings from work in 1958. He continued to shoot on film until he made the transfer to video in 1990. His films form part of a collection, which documents his family life and events in the Borough of Redbridge, as well as trips to central London, family holidays in the UK and abroad.
Whilst not all of these films show the London Borough of Redbridge, they are kept together as an archive of his filmmaking.
