Summary: Trev's 's 21st party: at home with people dancing
Title number: 20216
LSA ID: LSA/26689
Description: This film was made at the home of one of the filmmaker Mr Chaplin’s work colleagues, Mahest Trivedi, known as 'Trev', in Surrey. 'Trev' was from India and this film portrays a group of British and Indian young people enjoying themselves at the party, dancing to the sound of the sixties. Older family members watch on as the party-goers slow dance in couples and perform ‘the twist’; a wonderful example of everyday fashion and hairstyles of the sixties as well as an increasingly multi-cultural London.
Credits: Chaplin, Bernard (Filmmaker)
Further information: Bernard Chaplin bought his first camera with savings from work in 1958. He continued to shoot on film until he made the transfer to video in 1990. His films form part of a collection, which documents his family life and events in the Borough of Redbridge, as well as trips to central London, family holidays in the UK and abroad.
Whilst not all of these films show the London Borough of Redbridge, they are kept together as an archive of his filmmaking.
