Description: The Middlesex Regiment – also known as the Die Hards – were based at Mill Hill Barracks, later Inglis Barracks, between 1905 and 1961, and it’s here that the Prince of Wales unveiled a war memorial in 1922. The regiment lost 12,694 soldiers in the First World War. The barracks was later closed and redeveloped and the grade II-listed monument moved to a prominent site nearby.
