Description: Crickets in Upminster are shown batting and bowling during an indoor nets session, with good coverage of latter as they bowl over the top of the camera. Among the players is Andy Ducat, a Surrey batsman who also played football for Woolwich Arsenal, Aston Villa and Fulham, and represented England at both sports. The cricketers are also shown passing on tips to schoolboys, who then attempt to put the coaching into action.

Further information: Topical Budget (1911-1931) was one of three major British newsreels of the silent era, its main rivals being Gaumont Graphic and Pathé Gazette. Produced by William Jeapes' Topical Film Company, its first issue was released in September 1911. Of several newsreels on the market in this early period, by the middle of the First World War only three survived: Topical, Pathé and Gaumont.
