Description: Title; 'Bits and Pieces 1959'. A wedding scene, bride and groom with bridesmaids behind. There is a wedding photographer. Shots of the family and friends looking at the couple. Everyone is smartly dressed, white hats, gloves and the men with buttonholes. The bridesmaids wear green and yellow and the the bride and her maids all have flower posies and white head - dress. Formal shots of the bride and groom outside of the church and then a full photograph with seemingly most people in shot. lovely variety of hats, dresses and suits. Very full skirts and small waists, with hems just below the knees. The couple kiss - full on ! Shot of the church clock (4.35pm) in the tower.
A young girl is playing in a park nearby a pushchair. She is now in the pushchair and looking at flowers. Her mother is pointing out things to her - azaleas. It is a beautiful sunny day. The little girl is now pushing her chair along the path, We see other people around. The mother and daughter are feeding bread to a duck in a pond. There are shots of other waterfowl - in and around the water. A bird is preening and cleaning itself in the water. The family are a Kew Gardens - we can see the Pagoda in the distance. More shots of flowers - roses and fuschia. The mother is smelling pink roses. We sees beds of flowers and other visitors.
A mother and pushchair in the Summer is walking towards Westminster Abbey?/Oxbridge college?/Windsor? She leaves the pushchair outside and takes the child into the building.Both are dressed in Summer clothes . Woman and child in a cobbled street and period houses - timber framed. A striking tall pink rendered house next to a church/chapel. View down a charming cobbled High Street and a women in a floral dress on a bike cycles through the shot. 'Elm Hill Craft Shop' is seen written on a building.
Two small girls are by a red chair in a garden. They are wearing summer dresses. The two girls play with a soft toy/teddy and run around. A man in the garden with the girls and a women in a bright blue dress, help the girls do headstands. They play ball/catch with the little girls. We see the woman from the other films in the garden too. She is wearing the same full floral skirt and white sleeveless shirt.
A table set for a birthday tea - a cake with two candles in it. One of the girls is held upto blow them out and then helped to cut it. They lick the knife. Back into the garden and mother and daughter are playing with dolls - pram and cradle in shot. The mother offers the girl a drink.
A young child in a the garden with a puppy, jumping up and licking him(?) We see the puppy alone in the garden. A man brings a scooter to the child, who then tries to ride it up the garden path. The puppy is running round the garden. The man catches the puppy who is very excited. The child is excited and scared by the puppy. They stroke the puppy and try to feed it some grass/flowers. She has a dolls pram with a teddy in it. The girl is practising riding her scooter in the garden and pushing her pram around.
A white shoe box. A woman opens it and gets out Christmas decorations. The little girls comes over to look and 'help'. The woman looks like shoe is wearing a maternity smock. They hang up the decorations, we see the man with a hammer, attaching decorations to the a picture rail. The little girl takes the hammer. The mother takes it off her. The woman puts decorations by a plate on the wall and it drops off. You can see the surprise in the woman and child's faces and actions. They are now decorating the tree. The little girl is covered in paper chains. End Title.

Further information: Mr Victor Ashlee was a local resident and keen filmmaker. He lived at Eversley Avenue, Barnehurst and later at Caithness Gardens, Sidcup. His four children named Christine, Peter, Diane and Andrew were born between 1957 and 1969 and feature in many of the films in this collection.
