The older man lights a candle on the cake and Heather Ashlee, the children’s mother, blows it out for Peter; she tries to guide his hand to cut the cake with a knife, but instead he grabs a handful of icing. Cut to an empty table with empty plates and a half eaten cake.

Christine wears a thick coat and hat as she throws snow in the air. Heather sweeps the drive, whist Victor throws snow over her and Christine’s heads. Christine leaves a trail of footprints as she walks up the garden, then traces her steps back down. Heather rolls a particularly large snowball. Heather gives Christine a running start, pushing the sled down the hill. Christine does the same for her mother, who falls forward off the sled, Christine chases her excitedly. Heather takes Peter out of his pram and pushes him gently on the sled. Peter falls over in the snow, the family help him up and brush off the snow.
