Description: A large number of women are seen working in the Union Telephone Cables Company Works (one of the largest employers in Dagenham at this time), threading cables into machines; they all wear the same overall-type dress. One man walks past in a suit; another man in overalls works at a different, bigger machine. Various shots of more women working at various machines. We then see, from various angles, a huge elaborate spinning machine which weaves cables together.
