Summary: Nerve impulses are carried by a chemical substance named Sympathin which is released into the bloodstream at the termination of post ganglionic sympathetic fibres. Distant organs only respond when they are rendered specially sensitive by denervation. The film demonstrates this phenomenon by animated diagram and a series of experiments on an anaesthetised cat. ICI. The End.
