He talks about his training as a student and how in his early career he developed the common use of endotracheal anaesthesia. He explains the technical aspects of this type of anaesthesia, the kind of equipment doctors had access to at that time, and he also shows an example of the type of rubber tubing he used. They discuss the difference that this made to healthcare in the Second World War, as by that time there was a great number of trained anaesthetists.
