Description: Segment 1 The patient's abdomen is seen before the operation. It is very large. The intertitles describe the patient's condition. The operation begins. A long incision is made in the abdomen. The edges of the cut are protected. The tumour is exposed and a surgeon passes their hands over the surface of the growth to check the surface. A small incision is made in the cyst and it is punctured. A fluid sample is taken and the tumour partially collapses. The tumour is removed. The attaching ligaments and fallopian tube are identified and divided between clamps and separated from the cyst. Time start: 00:00:00:00 Time end: 00:05:48:00 Length: 00:05:48:00 Segment 2 The ligaments and fallopian tube are sutured, and the intertitles give detailed information about the types of sutures. The remaining ovary is examined. A small, simple cyst is found and removed. Time start: 00:05:48:00 Time end: 00:10:28:21 Length: 00:04:40:21 Segment 3 The intertitles note that is important to conserve some ovarian tissue provided that the tumour is not malignant. The area is examined for bleeding points and all swabs are removed. The incision is closed. Time start: 00:10:28:21 Time end: 00:14:45:12 Length: 00:04:16:16 Segment 4 The skin incision is sutured closed. The wound is cleaned and dressed. A firm bandage is applied to maintain pressure and prevent shock. The intertitles give a pathological description of the tumour, describing it. It weighs 25lbs and contained 2.5 gallons of fluid. The tumour is displayed. A surgeon dissects the tumour, and there is an explosion of liquid and a gooey substance as he cuts into it. The patient is seen lying in bed, awake. Time start: 00:14:45:12 Time end: 00:20:31:01 Length: 00:05:45:14
