Description: Segment 1 The intertitles introduce the treatment for talipes (clubfoot), and the cause - the position of the foetus during pregnancy. A case of severe double talipes in a three-week-old boy is shown, and the position he was in intra-uterine is demonstrated. A photograph of another case is also shown. A diagram of the bending of the forefoot is shown, with four positions, one of them the normal foot position. Another view of the three-week-old boy is shown. The doctors begin manipulating the child's foot, with the intertitles describing the movements they are making. The splint is shown. The first stage of binding the baby's foot to the splint with sticking plaster is shown. Time start: 00:00:00:00 Time end: 00:05:30:01 Length: 00:05:30:01 Segment 2 The second and third stages of binding the baby's foot to the splint are shown. Both feet are shown, bandaged into foot pieces. The same child is shown two months later, with the intertitles describing the care of the baby. The feet are shown free of strapping. The splint is reapplied. Time start: 00:05:30:01 Time end: 00:11:56:08 Length: 00:06:26:07 Segment 3 The same child is shown at the age of nine months, having been free of splints for the last three months. The feet are manipulated twice a day. The intertitles note that the child's feet are much improved. A photograph of another case is shown. Another case of a six-month-old baby is shown, with talipes of the left foot. The intertitles describe the therapy the child received. Another case of double talipes is shown at six months old. Two cases of severe talipes are shown, one who had double talipes, and one with single. Both children have begun to walk and the intertitles note that it is 'almost impossible to tell which is the one normal foot amongst the four on view'. The intertitles also note that because treatment occured at such an early age, the children are not frightened or suspicious. Time start: 00:11:56:08 Time end: 00:17:18:17 Length: 00:05:22:09
