The fundraiser begins in earnest however with a record of the exterior of the Palace Cinema in Bexleyheath as various dignitaries, including Hugh Dalton and his wife, arrive for an event in Bexley Warship Week. The streets of Bexleyheath are filled with spectators watching the march past of various military units, including men and women of the civil defence services, boy scouts, girl guides, Sea Cadets carrying the ensigns of HMS Ark Royal and HMS Arab and a number of military bands. The procession marches past a raised podium where it is reviewed by the Mayor, Town Clerk, the macebearer and a military officer. The film ends with an appeal to the audience for people to loan money for the equipment of the armed services through the government's National Savings scheme.
