Description: Segment 1 The patient is brought in to the operating theatre, lying face down with their legs hanging off the end of the trolley, in order that the rectum can be easily reached. The rectum is cleaned. An incision is made above the anus. The coccyx is removed. The rectum is separated and the radium needles are inserted. The intertitles explain where to insert the needles. A finger is inserted into the rectum to ensure that the bowel has not been perforated. A model shows the position of the artery, cancerous growth, rectum, where the surgery has taken place, and where the needles are positioned.
