Summary: This film shows the steps of the removal of a stone from a male patient's bladder. Sound passed bladder washout lithorite passed. Method of use shown on model and on case. Suction fragments evacuated manoeuvre repeated. Indwelling cather dressing. 2 segments.

Description: Segment 1 The patient is ready for surgery with only his penis exposed. A large sound is passed to ensure the urethra is free. A canula is passed into the urethra. The bladder is washed with boracic lotion, with four ounces being retained in the bladder. The lithotrite instrument is introduced down the urethra and into the bladder. An example using a model is shown. The intertitles describe the movements of the lithotrite made in order to crush the stone inside the bladder. The bladder is then washed, with four ounces of fluid again retained in the bladder. The bulb is compressed and relaxed, causing the stone fragments to be drawn out. The lithotrite is reinserted and then the remaining fragments evacuated. The bladder is washed again.
