Summary: A film of the civic amenities of South Gate, California, produced by the Rotary Club of South Gate (near Los Angeles) and addressed to members of the Rotary Club of Southgate in London.

Description: The film takes a trip around South Gate taking in the City Hall, and the City Council, where Councilman Milo Dellman is shown. The Hall of Justice and the local police force and their vehicles are shown during the Placing Colors ceremony. Rev. Alfred E. Bussingham of St. Margaret's Episcopal Church gives the invocation. Sherrif Eugene Biscailuz of Los Angeles Country was guest speaker. Mayor Beckley also gives a speech. The South Gate Youth Band is under the direction of their leader, Dale Eyeman. Chief of Police, John C. Gutting and Captain Don Chase examine the flags. The film then shows the jail, the public library, and the fire department, and the 'Deep Well Water System.' The post office, and postmaster Harold B. Lull are presented, as well as a Los Angeles Airways helicopter, which delivers air mail. The chamber of commerce enters a float in a 1950 costumed parade. The local branch of the Bank of America is presented, along with the manufacturing plants of Firestone, Rheem, Shellmar. Then it visits Armstrong Asphalt, the junior high school, the senior high school, the city park, an outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, baseball diamond, a new sports auditorium, a scout hut, the major highway called Firestone Boulevard, street cars, motor coaches, a suburban neighbourhood, and churches. Rotary Club members are show, including the editor of club publication (The Nairator) Gordon Signor, 1949-50 President George Kerslake, and past president Dean Kirk. Other members, Al Tatti and Howard Lucraft, are shown with their wives. President George Kerslake presents a short closing message.
