Description: Description: The programme opens with a look at the south side of the Thames, and using old photographs and prints, the house where Christopher Wren lived while working on St. Pauls' is detailed. Moving slightly west, focus is brought to Bankside Power station (now Tate Modern). Using interior footage and plans, the process of making electricity is detailed from oil tanker to pylon. To ensure a constant water supply is brought to the Power station, the Thames is used. Underneath Bankside, the inlet for this water is protected by a grate to prevent rubbish from the river flowing in. However, it often becomes blocked, and to help, a team of river divers are used. Head of this team, Mr Bryant, is in the studio to talk about their work and using a member of his team, the diver's equipment is examined. To end, one of the divers is shown entering the river Thames to unblock the inlet. Colour/B&W: Black and White. Key Subjects: Thames, Bankside Power station, Tate Modern
