Description: The first film begins with shots of silk moths being cultivated in Bexley, Kent for export abroad. Mr L. Hugh Newman, an entomologist and lepidopterist, protects his moths from predators using muslin bags attached to a bush to hide them. A young boy looks at large silk moths on a pot plant: a Tree of Heaven Silk moth from China, a Giant Oak Silk moth from North America, Moon moths from the Indian Himalayas, a Canadian Bulls Eye moth. The young boy watches Mr Newman as he prepares dead moths for storage and display, including the Madagascar moth. The second film shows Mr Hugh Newman preparing dead butterflies and moths for display; various moths and butterflies displayed in box frames; and preserved specimens of butterflies used as home decoration.
