Summary: A film to help children understand and feel comfortable with a stay in hospital.
Title number: 12
LSA ID: LSA/17
Description: This film appears to be designed to be shown to children about to begin a stay at hospital. It features onscreen text which parents are asked to read aloud to younger children. The film follows one boy as he begins his stay in hospital. He is seen being placed in a wheelchair and meeting the Ward Sister. A bed is laid out for his mother; a doctor makes an initial check up of the boy. Some of the hospital facilities are shown, including beds in a large shared ward, beds in a smaller room, a play area with a rocking horse and an art area. A visit from the boy's mum and dad is followed by a hospital meal in bed and views of the playroom with toys, a schoolroom and a dining area for children. The film ends with the boy's mother leaving, a remark on the kindness of nurses (some with masks on) and how someone always look over children during nighttimes on the ward.
