Summary: Scouting Days 1966.
Amateur film of scouting activity by the 20th Fulham Boy Scouts in 1966.
Title number: 1128
LSA ID: LSA/1569
Description: The film begins with the Easter camp at Englefield Green with the scouts raising the Union flag on a flag pole at the Englefield Green Scout Headquarters. They also gather firewood and make a campfire. Camp activities are many and varied, including lasso practice, making pastry and apple pie and making and using an obstacle course. At Gilwell Park (near Chingford) the boys undergo kit inspection and cold showers, leavened slightly by the use of an outdoor swimming pool where they play water polo. The Whitsun holiday is spent at Longridge Scout Camp (near Marlow, Buckinghamshire) where the boys look at rocks and row boats and canoes on water, with some ingenious scouts making an improvised boat with logs and a groundsheet. A Campcraft Exhibition features kit inspection, a blindfolded walk, first aid training and an obstacle course. This year's Summer Camp is on the Isle of Wight where the boys engage in some tree surgery, play games and take another blindfolded walk. The film ends with a visit to Ramsgate, where the boys take a journey on a HoverLloyd hovercraft, visit the sea front, ride dodgems and play on the beach.
