Summary: Scouting Days 1964.
Amateur film of scouting activity by the 20th Fulham Boy Scouts in 1964.
Title number: 1126
LSA ID: LSA/1567
Description: The film begins with the Easter camp at Englefield Green, where the boys chop firewood and run an obstacle course. At the Whitsun Camp they are again filmed chopping and transporting firewood. They also play cricket, polish shoes, undergo a kit inspection, carve wood, prepare food and take down their tents at the end of camp. Another camp at Downe in Kent sees the boys engaged in tree identification and playing games. An interlude rather different in character comes with the 'Wedding of Jo and Tony' which is film of a wedding at Fulham Parish Church with scenes outside the church including the bride and groom and a reception at Mohican House (the Scout's hall, presumably at least one of the couple is involved with the scouts). A Campcraft Exhibition features flag raising and kit inspection. A display at Bishops Park features a fair with marquees and stalls, an obstacle course, hot dogs for sale and games including a coconut shy and darts. At the Summer Camp, the boys arrive in the countryside by car, set up tents and raise the Union flag, before kit inspection. They go to a farm to see sheep being dipped, climb rope ladder and trees, make an improvised oven, visit a turkey farm and chop down tree. They also have a sporting event, with competition on an obstacle course, a football match, javelin throwing and tossing the Khyber.
