Black British Heritage Collection Highlight
Black History is a crucial part of London's history and to highlight this, you can watch a specially curated selection from London’s Screen Archives collection. Drawn from over 50 years of film history, that highlight Black British heritage including films that provide amazing insight into the lives, stories, experiences and contributions of Black Londoners.
Including a glimpse of an Inner London Education Authority inspector Yvonne Conolly CBE who became the United Kingdom's first female Black headteacher in 1969, aged just 29-years-old. As well as a film produced by a group of young filmmakers mapping the informal spaces for discussion on politics and history within the Sierra Leonean community of Southwark, which won Film London's Lodestar 2021.
